Important Advisory Note for Jammu and Kashmir Trekkers 2026

Our recent trek exploration team went to Jammu and found Jammu and Kashmir stand at the forefront of the most beautiful regions in India. Its alpine charm is so overpowering that its dramatic landscapes, crystal-clear high-altitude lakes, and sweeping meadows often seem like an enhanced, ethereal version of their counterparts in other states.

However, trekking in this paradise comes with its own unique set of variables. The region is inherently linked to sudden shifts due to security protocols, military movements, and political compulsions. Consequently, in compliance with sudden local government decisions, we do not always receive the necessary permits for our Kashmir treks. There are also times when the administration must abruptly call off civilian movements to ensure public safety, and as responsible mountaineers, we strictly abide by these official mandates.

Kashmir Treks Update

To protect your investments and provide absolute clarity, Himalayan Hikers has laid down a clear, structured policy specifically addressing potential government interventions in Jammu and Kashmir for the 2026 season:

1. Government Advisory Cut-off (Before June 15, 2026)

  • If the local government or military authorities issue a "no permission" or restrictive travel advisory on or before June 15, 2026, preventing the trek from taking place, Himalayan Hikers will issue a full refund of your trek fee with no deductions.

2. Standard Schedule & Regular Cancellation (After June 15, 2026)

  • If the local administration allows civilian movements and the treks run as per schedule after this date, any personal cancellations will immediately fall under the Standard Himalayan Hikers Cancellation Policy Rules:
    • 30+ days before the trek start date: 90% of the trek cost will be refunded.
    • 21 to 30 days before the trek start date: 50% of the trek cost will be refunded.
    • Less than 20 days before the trek start date: No refund will be provided.

3. Unexpected Mid-Trek Disruptions (Force Majeure)

  • If a trek is halted or aborted after reaching the base camp or while on the trail due to sudden military orders, route closures, or political unrest, no refund can be provided as logistics, stays, and staff are already deployed. In such extreme cases, Himalayan Hikers will look out for your safety first and, where feasible, provide an alternative trek route or a 2-year valid credit voucher for future bookings.
